Andy Cohen and Kevin Sobieski Go Trick-or-Treating as Jedi Masters

Andy Cohen did Halloween the way most parents do this year. Sidewalk. Sugar rush. Two small kids moving way too fast. The only real difference? His version came with Jedi robes, a famous best friend, and a boyfriend the internet has been quietly cheering on since summer.

On Saturday afternoon, October 31, the 58-year-old Watch What Happens Live host posted a bunch of photos from trick-or-treating in New York City with his kids — Ben, 7, and Lucy, 4. And right there in the middle of it all was his boyfriend, Kevin Sobieski, 42. The family theme? Star Wars. Obviously. Well — mostly.

Andy and Kevin went as Jedi Masters, robes and everything, while Ben committed fully to the dark side as Darth Maul. Lucy, meanwhile, had zero interest in a galaxy far, far away and went as a butterfly instead. Because she’s four. And four-year-olds do not negotiate on wings. “Happy Halloween from New York City,” Andy captioned the post, and honestly, the photos did the rest of the talking.

Also floating around in the pictures: longtime friend Anderson Cooper, in a skeleton-print hoodie. No elaborate costume. No prosthetics. Just Anderson, comfortable, showing up. If you’ve followed these two for any length of time, you already know — that’s exactly his speed.

It wasn’t an announcement. That’s why it worked.

Here’s what I keep coming back to: Andy didn’t make a big deal of this. No essay-length caption. No “hard launch” post with a paragraph about love and gratitude. He just… posted his Halloween. Kevin was in it the way someone belongs in it — walking the neighborhood, wrangling kids, smiling for a photo.

And look, for a man who spends his working life asking other people wildly personal questions on live TV, Andy guards his own stuff pretty carefully. He’ll spill Bravo tea all night long. His own love life? Different story. So when he casually folds his boyfriend into a family afternoon on Instagram, that’s not nothing. In Andy Cohen language, that’s basically shouting it from a rooftop.

It also matches how this whole relationship has rolled out — slow, low-key, on his timetable. No paparazzi “gotcha” moment driving the story. No cryptic teaser posts. Just real life, happening at a normal human pace, which feels almost radical for a celebrity couple in 2026.

So how did we get here?

Rewind to early June. Andy and Kevin were spotted holding hands out in New York City while celebrating Andy’s birthday, and suddenly everyone had questions. Who’s this guy? Are they serious? Is this actually happening? The photos made the rounds, fans did their usual internet detective work, and then — refreshingly — people mostly just waited for Andy to say it himself.

Which he did, on his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live. No drama, no buildup, just the facts: they’re together, they’ve been together for almost a year, and they met at a Fourth of July party in 2025. A holiday party meet-cute, fireworks and all. You really can’t write that stuff better if you tried.

He’s also talked about their 16-year age gap directly, instead of pretending it isn’t a thing people comment on. His vibe, basically: we’re happy, mind your business. And fans mostly agreed — the reaction skewed warm, with a lot of people saying it was nice to see the guy who usually plays matchmaker and interrogator for everyone else finally get his own happy storyline for once.

The other thing worth noting? We still don’t know all that much about Kevin, and that’s kind of the point. He’s not famous. He’s not angling for a reality show. He hasn’t turned the relationship into a brand launch. In an era where every new celebrity couple seems to announce a joint podcast within a month, there’s something genuinely old-fashioned about a guy whose main public appearance is… trick-or-treating. In Jedi robes. Respect.

Ben and Lucy stole the show, obviously

Let’s be real, though — the kids were the stars here. Andy became a dad later in life, with Ben arriving in February 2019 via surrogate and Lucy following in April 2022, and he’s never pretended it didn’t completely rewire him. The man built a career on late-night cocktails and Housewives reunions, and now he plans his nights around bedtimes. He seems thrilled about the swap.

You can hear it every time he talks about them on the radio — that slightly stunned, proud-dad thing, like he still can’t quite believe these two small people are his. Ben, at 7, is old enough to have Very Strong Opinions about costumes (Darth Maul is a commitment, and he committed), and Lucy, at 4, is deep in her butterfly era. The wings were never up for debate. Any parent of a four-year-old knows exactly how that negotiation went.

And yeah, there’s something sweet about seeing Kevin right in the thick of it — not off to the side, not cropped out, just there in the robes, part of the crew. Family Halloween photos don’t usually make news. But when one of Bravo’s most famous faces posts one, they do. And this one felt less like a celebrity moment and more like a family photo that happened to be posted by a celebrity. There’s a difference, and you can feel it.

And, of course, Anderson

No Andy Cohen family outing is complete without Anderson Cooper nearby in something comfortable, and Halloween delivered. The CNN anchor and Andy go way, way back — we’re talking early 1990s, before either of them was famous in the way we mean now — and their friendship has turned into one of pop culture’s most dependable double acts.

They host CNN’s New Year’s Eve show together. They’ve toured with their AC2 stage show. They’ve spent years roasting each other in public with the total ease of two people who have nothing left to prove. Anderson’s a dad himself now, to sons Wyatt and Sebastian, and he’s been a constant through all of Andy’s chapters — so his Halloween cameo, skeleton hoodie and all, felt like the most normal thing in the world.

Honestly, it says a lot about Andy’s circle. These aren’t just famous friends for the cameras. They’re the people who turn up for the unglamorous stuff. A Saturday afternoon. A neighborhood sidewalk. A candy bag that will absolutely be raided before dinner. That’s the real inner circle test, and Anderson passes it every time.

Why a simple post hit so hard

Part of it is timing, sure. Halloween in New York is its own animal — the Village parade, the decorated brownstones, kids in costumes that probably cost more than my first car — and Andy’s post caught the cozy neighborhood version of it, not the velvet-rope celebrity party version. No sponsored backdrop. No guest list. Just a dad, his boyfriend, his kids, and his best friend, walking around the city they call home.

But the bigger part? People just like seeing Andy happy. He’s spent almost twenty years in the host chair, asking everyone else about their love lives, their divorces, their reunions, their mess. Watching him step out of that chair and into a normal, joyful chapter — Jedi robe included — feels like a genuinely satisfying plot twist in a show we’ve all been watching forever.

And come on, the Star Wars theme didn’t hurt. A family that coordinates costumes is a family that’s talking to each other. A dad willing to wear Jedi robes on a New York sidewalk is a dad who’s all in on the bit. And Ben as Darth Maul squaring up against two Jedi Masters is either excellent parenting or the setup for a living-room lightsaber battle later that night. My money’s on both.

As for what’s next for Andy and Kevin — don’t hold your breath for a big rollout. If the last few months tell us anything, they’ll keep doing what they’ve been doing: living their lives, showing up for each other, and letting the occasional photo do the talking. No announcement required. The Force, it turns out, is strong with this one — and Halloween 2026 might just be remembered as the year Andy Cohen’s trick-or-treating crew became everyone’s favorite new tradition.
